Bullseye for Charity: The Red Lion’s 7-Hour Saturday Night Darts Marathon

The atmosphere at The Red Lion was electric on Saturday, 7th February, as our community swapped their typical weekend plans for darts flights, all in the name of charity. Our marathon fundraiser proved that when this community aims for a goal, we hit the mark every single time.

Seven Hours of Spirit

The event saw locals, regulars, and friends of the pub take to the oche for a grueling 7-hour non-stop darts marathon. From the very first throw of the night to the final double-top in the early hours, the board didn’t see a single moment of rest.

While the competition was friendly, the mission was serious: raising much-needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, an organization that provides physical, financial, and emotional support to people living with cancer. Whether it was a “180” or a “bounce-out,” every dart thrown helped us get closer to our fundraising target.

Heartfelt Thanks

We are thrilled to announce that through entry fees and the incredible generosity of those who donated throughout the night, we raised a fantastic grand total:

Total Raised Over £150

This wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible spirit of our community. We would like to extend a massive thank you to:

  • The Players: For your stamina over the seven-hour stretch and for keeping the energy high all through the night.
  • The Donors: To everyone who dropped change in the buckets or sponsored a player—your generosity is life-changing.
  • Our Friends & Neighbors: For the cheers, the encouragement, and for making the night of the 7th so memorable.
  • The Volunteers: For keeping track of the scores and keeping the atmosphere buzzing.

Why It Matters

Every penny raised goes directly to Macmillan to help them continue their vital work. In the words of our landlord, Andy:

“Seeing the Red Lion packed with people supporting such a great cause reminds us why we love this community. Seven hours is a long time to stay focused, but the enthusiasm never wavered from start to finish on Saturday night. Thank you to everyone who made it happen.”
